Titanfall 1: Titan Heavy Rifle, 40mm

The THR 40mm was a heavy Titan battle rifle. Heavily inspired by the 40mm Bofors Cannon, early iterations of this weapon used the Crossbow feature set from Halflife 2. We needed a slow ROF weapon that fired visible projectiles, fortunately for us the HL2 Crossbow was easy to implement and iterate on the fly.

Visually inspired by heavy construction machinery and Howitzer cannons, the "40 mil" packed a punch. It was my preferred weapon in Last Titan Standing. When matched with a Stryder Titan, you could hit and fade very effectively. I absolutely love what our amazing audio team did with the firing sounds. They really nailed the heavy weight of a 40mm round sending hurt downrange.
